BusinessWare Solutions and HP PC’s: What to Expect

As a committed HP Partner, BusinessWare Solutions is dedicated to helping you understand the meaning and impact of the recent HP announcements to you, our valued customer. Included among last week’s announcements was the HP board’s decision to evaluate strategic alternatives for the Personal Systems Group business.  Although these may include a range of options, this was not an announcement of a shutdown of the company’s PC business.

Having now heard directly from Todd Bradley and other members of HP’s senior leadership team, we can tell you that HP remains committed – now more than ever – to driving growth of its PC business.  A $42 billion business, PSG is the largest PC business in the world with #1 market share and profitability in the PC industry worldwide.

HP is not taking its foot off the pedal now and will continue to drive leading innovation across its PC portfolio moving forward.  You also can expect HP to continue the company’s strong and solid history of taking care of you, its valued customer.  You should absolutely feel comfortable and confident in buying HP just as you always have, despite the confusion HP’s competitors might be stirring.

While there is uncertainty with change, we can tell you that BusinessWare Solutions remains committed to HP and their products, and we look forward to traveling on this journey with them.  We can also tell you that we remain committed to you and will continue to keep an open dialogue with you as we identify the best technology solutions to help you run and manage your business.  We encourage you to reach out to us with any questions at sales@businesswaresolutions.com or you may contact us at any of our Locations.

In The News: Clarification on HP’s Recent Announcements

HP certainly made waves this week with the announcement that the recently launched Touchpad would be discontinued and that some or all of the HP PSG division (PSG – Personal Systems Group – PCs, laptops, and displays) might be spun off.  HP clarified today that the HP PSG has not been sold and it is not being shut down.  HP is simply evaluating the future of this division over the next 12 to 18 months.  In the future, some or all of the PSG division could be sold or it could be retained as is.  Regardless of the outcome of that evaluation, HP will continue to support and move forward with the PSG business.

 Key HP PSG Points

  • HP PSG has a proud history of innovation and technological leadership as well as a strong operating track record and industry leading profitability
  • HP PSG is the leading manufacturer of PCs in the world, with annual revenues of approximately $41 billion in FY2010
  • HP PSG remains the global leader among Wintel PC competitors as measured by units, revenue and operating margin
  • HP PSG has demonstrated for the past 6 years that its scale and diverse portfolio are difficult to challenge
  • PCs will account for ~375,000,000 units in 2011 and HP ships nearly 1 out of 5 of those units
